Alan was recommended to me as a very trustworthy builder with a highly skilled team, and I certainly found that to be true. The work that I needed carried out involved applying for planning permission, which Alan talked me through. It also involved using several specialists in metal work and roofing, and again Alan supported me in getting quotes and advising me on them. Indeed, where he felt that one quote was too high, he sought out another specialist who quoted for and eventually carried out the work. At all times Alan managed all the outside contractors.

During COVID, when the work was carried out, it was a pleasure to have Alans team in the house, they were highly skilled, friendly, courteous, and tidied up everything each evening. When we hit an unexpected problem, caused by water damage in the roof, again Alan helped me with my insurance claim and the rectification work. At all times it felt to me as though my project was a top priority to Alan and not just a fill in between other jobs, even though unexpected events, such as the water damage, affected Alans teams' timetable.

I have been very happy with all the work Alan and his team carried out and will be using him again to do other bits of work that were picked up on my survey report and to do general ongoing maintenance. One of the things that I was particularly impressed with about Alan was that no job was too small, indeed the first time I used him it was simply to box in an external pipe and from that simple job I was happy to then award Alan further building work. I have also recommended Alan to friends who have all been very pleased with his approach to their jobs and the work completed.

Alan has also helped me in building up my support team and introduced me to a very reliable plumber and electrician, who I now use for all relevant work. These specialists all have the same business ethics as Alan. I could not be happier with all the work that Alan has done and would highly recommend him and his team.

Greenings of Tavistock has been repairing, renovating, replacing, redecorating and fixing several examples of original sin on our house for over 2 months. Alan Greening was the main contractor for substantial works to our Grade II listed house on the edge of Dartmoor. The work involved structural repairs to the fabric of the house and outbuildings including strengthening wooden floors (some of which were in very poor condition with very old timbers needing replacement or reinforcement), new concrete floors with underfloor heating, a new flat roof over the Conservatory and considerable work to repoint and repair damage to various internal and external walls including window openings.

Alan fitted new wooden floors, repaired or replaced windows and shutters, repaired rainwater goods and drains, and redecorated the entire house, inside and out. He provided building support for new services (water and power), new heating and hot water systems, bathrooms, toilets and a kitchen.

Overall the building works, which were completed in stages, lasted nearly 3 years and involved up to 6 people on site at once excluding sub-contractors.

Alan has a lot of experience and was always concerned to do the work as well as possible. Our project was complicated because we were both trying to refurbish a listed building and install new services including heating, hot and cold water, drainage and data, audio and video networks. Nevertheless Alan was patient with all the changes to specifications and happy to deal with any issues as they arose. We are pleased with the final result and would recommend Alan as someone who understand the difficulties of working with older buildings and has the knowledge needed to deal with them sympathetically.

Over the course of the last 25 years I have worked with Alan Greening on many projects both private commissions and work I have overseen on behalf of my clients.
